Writing
The Daily Tar Heel & Walter Magazine
During the fall of 2023, I worked as a contributing lifestyle writer for The Daily Tar Heel, UNC’s independent student newspaper. I contributed over 10 articles covering local artists, authors, quilters and the 2024 Spotify Wrapped results across the state, reaching a daily readership of over 10,000. As part of the Mental Health Collaborative—a project involving nine North Carolina college newsrooms focused on mental health issues in their communities—I wrote about the significance of art therapy in North Carolina, highlighting its impact on mental well-being.
In the summer of 2022, I served as an editorial assistant for Walter Magazine, the “art and soul” of Raleigh. I researched and reported on local businesses and events, from top N.C. coast Airbnbs to sweet treats in the Triangle, for an audience of 100,000 across digital platforms. I fact-checked and edited monthly print editions for AP Style, pitched story ideas to boost web engagement and ensured all editions were digitally accessible.
